You Can’t Always Get What You Want.

Preamble:
An unsuccessful Q-coup attempt by Avis raised the stakes on this BD. Would his thirst for burpees be quenched? Would we have been better off if he’d succeeded? No, and probably yes.
Good numbers in the parking lot and a great BD plan in hand- easy-peasy. Or maybe not.
Warm-O-Rama:
All PAX carried their cinders/coupons to the paved space between FOD and the backup field. Circled up for some:
- SSH
- Weedpickers
- Toy Soldiers
- Windmills
- Arm Circles
The Thang:
All we needed was a field…
Bataan Death March
FOD is still locked. I guess they don’t want that new turf to get walked on. Shucks.
To the backup field! Line up the Cinders on the foul line. Time to start with some Bataan Death March. High PAX count means two lines; everyone runs while the last two PAX drop for 5 burpees, then sprint to the front. 30 seconds in, we realize we’re running in a swamp and destroying the turf. Awkwardly, we move the BTM to the sidewalk and struggle to maintain form. Shucks.
Grip, Rip and Roll
I really, really wanted to do this on something soft. The grassy area between the fields? Swamp. FOD? Nope, still locked. Shucks.
Turn on some Creedence and commence GRR. Line up on the sidewalk and leave arms space between all PAX. Get on your six next to your brick. Pick up brick, move it to the other side, roll onto it for an inclined high plank, then keep rolling to the opposite side. We rolled 25 times up the sidewalk in this fashion leaving chunks of Cinder and Skin along the way.
Time to head back down. Same instructions, but add a cinder press as you move the brick over, and add an incline Mercan to the high plank. Repeat x 25.
100 Tabata Burpees
YHC set a 10 minute timer with 10 seconds of rest between minutes. 10 Burpees per minute. Still on the concrete.
Captain Thor
We finished off with a this combo of Big Boy Sit Ups and LBC’s Alpha-count American Hammers. 1:4 ratio, ascending to 2:8, etc. We made it to 6:24 at time.
COT:
Reminders about upcoming CPR+AED training. See Slack for details.
Reminder about ID wrist tags for emergency contact info & general safety.
Great to see Splat back out.
TNT from Devito about rolling with the unplanned changes that can trip us up. Attitude is key and makes most of the difference between a flop and a win.
Naked-Man Moleskin:
Thank you to all the men this morning who hung with me. It’s fun to go digging in the Exicon & try something new like the GRR. And things don’t always go as planned.
As the cowboy says, “Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you.” Also, sometimes the swamp and pavement eat you. I know I got stronger this morning & I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead. SYITG.
