Not so “Leisure” Sport

Preamble:

Decided to mix it up today and have a special Q dedicated to the current favorite leisure sport for some of our more “respected” Norseman regulars, with a mosey out to the “adult” center for some Pickleball competition!

Warm-O-Rama:

Moseyed down to the old flag spot for some:

• Weed Pickers
• Toy Soldiers

Pepper told me that my Toy Soldiers were too fast due to my short legs. But I think he was just feeling sassy this morning.

The Thang:

Continues to Mosey over to the Pickleball courts and stopped half way to let the 6 catch up and start the BD with a “Wheel of Merkins” which was a bit harder than expected. But the PAX fought through, and we continued our mosey up to the courts.

Once arrived, surprised the PAX with a lit up Pickleball court, complete with light up pickleballs. The PAX were split up into two teams and told that they would be wagering different exercises with each point. Team winning the point would mosey a lap around the courts, while the losing team completed the exercise.

As to be expected, it turns out that Untouchable is a pickleball pro. “Team 1” seemed to be dominating the competition so team 2 eventually stole UT over to their side. The dominance was evidenced by the total mileage difference between my Strava (team 1, 2.36 mi) and Nacho’s (team 2, 1.62 mi).

The PAX seemed to be getting lazy half way through so we stopped in the middle for some suicides – sprint out, bernie sanders back, and 1 burpee each time at the baseline. That helped them get their feet moving better.

Things got spicey at the end where the PAX were allowed to go “double or nothing” for their wagered exercises in an attempt to get redemption on lost points. But time was soon up and we had to mosey back to the flag.

No major updates… but congrats to Hot Wheels on his state championship and good luck to him and Pepper at the world series in MS next week!

Prayers for UT who is joining the empty nester crew as he moves his son out to school at Florida (ugh!) soon.
