Rain. YHC new there was no escaping it this Saturday, and wonder how many brave PAX would turn out. To my surprise and great satisfaction, 7 answered the call. What was is store for them? Well, since the odds were 100% for a wet workout, I though we’d try another game of chance….
After a quick disclaimer (and a feeble promise to keep them as dry as possible), we Mosey’d over to the pavilion by the soccer field.
The Warm-up
15 X SSH
15 X Rapid-fire Weed pickers
15 X Hillbillies
This was quickly followed by a trip to the rock pile to pick up a date, then off to the soccer field. So much for keeping us dry!

The Thang II
After depositing our coupons, it was time for a mini Merkin Mile to the Widowmaker. Heading towards the entrance of the park, then veering left to remain on the loop: 10 Merkins at every stop sign, 10 Burpees for every car that passed. Sadly no vehicles came, but YHC kept high vigilance to avoid cheating the group of more face time in the wet asphalt. Once the six was in, it was down to the bottom of the hill for a game of chance…
The Thang III
Widowmaker Roulette – Very simple rules: Using 8 hand-selected cards from YHC F3 workout deck, each PAX would take a card. One lucky person would draw the run card, which, you guessed it, required a trip up the Widowmaker and back. The remaining cards had a different exercise for each individual to perform, until our rabbit completed their quest to the top and back. These workouts ranged from moderate difficulty (Freddie Mercuries, Dip, Sun Gods) to excessive (Bonnie Blairs, Smurf Jacks). Through 4 rounds of this, we thankfully had no one follow through on their threat to hang out at the top!
On the Mosey back to the flag, we finally had two cars pass. My fellow PAX did not hesitate–10 Burpees each. Strong group.
COT
-Prayers to Boomer’s friend who is dealing with an illness
-Fellow Runners – The Whiz has served us admirably as site Q at the Hoppy-like, but has decided pass the flag to me. If there are any races you are training for, let me know and I’ll try to tailor these runs for maximum impact (hills, track work, etc).
