When: 04/12/2022
QIC: FannyPack
PAX (009): Dipstick, False Start, FannyPack, Lefty, lumbergh, Pinkey, Special K, Stiff Arm, Zohan
Preamble:
Woke up with high hopes for a PitStop anniversary beatdown; unfortunately, PitStop pulled an all-night pit stop with the stomach bug. As False Start noted, “It’s like the ultimate Pit Stop.”
Jumped in to grab the Q this morning and we’re off.
Gave a PSA on having a few ‘recipes’ of prior beatdowns at hand- you never know when a last minute sub is needed.
At exactly 5:30 YHC started the sound track for the morning- Led Zeppelin’s first album, play time is a full 45 minutes so we started jamming with the Disclaimer.
Warm-O-Rama:
Mosey to the Big flag with tunes in-tow. With some difficulty, did the following exercises in cadence while the music played:
- 15 SSH
- 10 Weedpickers
- 10 Windmills
- 15 Imperial Walkers
- Arm Circles- fwd & rvs
- Covid’s
Mosey to the lush, turf, FOD…
The Thang:
…to find some guy throwing glow-in-the-dark frisbees from behind home plate. He was startled to see the 9 of us with Led Zeppelin blasting. After a friendly exchange, and inviting him to join us (which he declined), we moseyed to the dirt tee-ball field. “Let’s get muddy.”
The 7 of Diamonds is a series of different exercises, each count repeated at each base as we round the bases 7 times. The exercise changes, and the counts change, with each time around. We started with a brief demo of unfamiliar exercises & explanation, followed by a single rep in unison for familiarity.
1st round: Absolutions x 7
2nd round: Captain Thor x 14
3rd round: Imperial Squat Walker (Single-Count) x 21
4th round: Side Straddle Hop x 28
5th round: Merkins (vary hands positions per base) x 21
6th round: Lunges (Single-Count) x 14
7th round: Burpees x 7
(Audible groan from Pinkey: “this is not my kind of music.” Technical assistance from Zohan kept YHC on track.)
At 6:12, mosey back to the flag for mary:
- Zohan: Gas Pumpers
- Stiff Arm: WWII Sit-Ups.
Stiff Arm finished this count exactly at 45:00, right along with then end of “How Many More Times.”
COT:
Shout out to the Hooch and Meatball for hosting the convergence yesterday, it was a moving tribute & the outpouring of support was truly encouraging. Prayers for a fast recovery for PitStop.
Naked-Man Moleskin:
Always fun to lead & start the day with a beatdown and good tunes. Great time this morning.
