A Journey Down New Fatherhood Lane

AO: Windjammer

When: 05/18/2022

QIC: Dr. Rico

PAX (8): Cox, False Start, Funyun, Milli Vanilli, NRA, Townie, Walkie Talkie

Preamble:

It had been too long since I’d been pampered at the Windjammer.

Also, since I’ve been gone ya’ll gave False Start more power???  Wish I would have been around to throw my body in front of that bad decision.

Warm-O-Rama:

We moseyed over to the dam.  The PAX seemed to have gotten much slower in my absence…

  • 15 SSH
  • 12 Hillbillies
  • 10 Weedpickers

The Thang:

YHC had been gone a while as a result of having a new baby.  But I didn’t want the PAX to think I’d been slacking so I wanted to give them a taste of all the fun activities I’d been participating in!

First we moseyed over to the “hospital” (the dam).  As you fathers know, there isn’t much for the Dads to do in the hospital.  We can only really do two things…1)go pick up non-hospital food and 2)try to sleep on the incredibly uncomfortable couch/chair.  So that’s what we did.

  • Food run (aka the hill)
  • 50 LBCs (aka lying on the terrible bed)
  • Food run
  • 50 flutter kicks
  • Food run
  • 50 Big Boy sit-ups (this was too many…sorry PAX, I’m out of practice)

Congrats! You’ve survived the hospital and you’re rewarded with a new baby.  So we all grabbed a nice-sized baby (rock) and moseyed on down the road.  Near the boat launch we found a cone that had our next activity.

Welcome home!  You now have a baby and responsibilities.  You need to feed the baby (200 bicep curls) and play with the baby (200 shoulder presses). Now you might be thinking, that’s a lot of reps…and you’d be right! Being a new parent is hard!  Luckily your parents came to help after the hospital so we grabbed a partner and split the workout.  One partner does the reps and the other runs.  Rinse and repeat until the reps were finished.

We then moseyed on over to the boat ramp for the most important part of new parenthood…sleeping.  It was time to work our legs. And like a good leg workout, sleep training takes discipline, hard work, and a strong will.  So we kept our babies and did 4 corners:

  • 34 squats
  • 34 wide-leg squats
  • 34 deadlifts
  • 34 monkey humpers

After a successful training we moseyed on back to the flag where we had a few minutes left for our ‘break.’  As all new fathers know, being a Dad is hard…but being a Mom is much harder. So you can’t just say ‘I need a break’ and hand off the baby to Mom.  However, experienced fathers know there is one safe space in the house…the bathroom. So we air-chaired for a few minutes in honor of our safest space.
