Yes, It’s true. This man has no disc.
AO: Starting Line
When: 06/08/2022
QIC: Sirmixalot
PAX (6): Dunshire, Janeway, Komrad, Script Kiddie, Sirmixalot, Suarez
Preamble:
“I’m alright and nobody worry ’bout me
Why you got to gimme a fight, can’t you just let it be?” – With the opening lines of the Caddyshack theme echoing in his head YHC rolled in to Starting Line amped up and ready to play the first ever Sirmixalot Open on Shiner’s nine. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to incorporate a disc golf game into a beatdown (I think I may be the only one) well, then wonder no more.
The PAX arrived in on time to tee off a few minutes behind schedule. After some preparations and relieving of bladders we were off like a Nikko Locastro tee shot. (For the uninitiated he is known for taking a long time to set up his shots)
Warm-O-Rama:
Warm up lap around the track and circled back to pick up a disc (more on that later) for Suarez who had joined in with the crew.
Warmed up with some SSHs, Hillbillies, Weed pickers, and Sun Gods
Then we made our way around to the first tee box.
The Thang:
Before each throw the PAX were tasked with doing 10, 20, or 30 reps of an exercise to earn their throw.
10 reps of a push up or upper body movement of the pax’s choice
20 reps of an abdominal movement of the pax’s choice
or 30 reps of a squat, lunge, or lower body variation of movement of the pax’s choice.
This had to be completed before each and every throw even when close enough to tap in the disc basket and the pax had to cycle through the movements i.e. don’t repeat pushups until abs and lower body had been completed. The PAX were to run to the location of their throw as well.
Hole 1 was beautiful chaos as the Pax tried not to destroy each other with their discs. Pretty quickly all was figured out. After completing the hole Pax had to hold plank or air squat until the balance of the PAX completed to hole.
Then we moved on to the second hole where things went askew for one intrepid player. I won’t say his name but his initials are SUAREZ who earned his throw then promptly flew his disc right over the fence into the dense weeds and thorns. The early morning gloom added to the difficulty of locating the rogue disc and after some fence climbing and tromping by both Suarez and Komrad the sad decision to abandon the disc was made. Suarez had the lowest score of the round by default.
Holes 3 and 4 were completed without much incident – there were forehands, hyzers, anhyzers, tomahawks and one wildly errant shot into the back of the nursing home (again on the other side of a fence which thankfully had an open gate)
Soon we were running out of time and one pax noted that this was the fastest beatdown he’s ever attended. We stopped by the pull up bar for a set of pulls of whatever type the pax could complete. We made it back to the circle for one round of V-up Y-up mary.
COT:
Count-o-rama, Name-o-rama.
YHC shared a quick meme related Acceleration point about how when things are difficult we sometimes want to lay low, or slow down, or tell ourselves that it’s ok if we back off because things are difficult – but that we as men need to lead our families by pushing through the difficulties and being an example of resilience. Sometimes the best thing we can do when asked how things are going is to just give a determined thumbs up and keep moving.
Prayers for Janeway’s family and job challenges

Naked-Man Moleskin:
This Q was a blast to put together. There will be some version of this in the future. Still working out the details. Always an honor to Q.
