Firehouse run, Ants, and Glitter
AO: Firehouse
When: 09/06/2022
QIC: Sirmixalot
PAX (7): Ace Ventura, Glitter, Janeway, LifeLock VPN, Lightweight, Sirmixalot, Zuckerburg/Snorlax
Preamble:
An empty spot on the Q sheet and a last minute commit to lead the BD and a lot going on at home left YHC with a few options for creating a beatdown. I could spend a couple of hours putting together a well orchestrated epic beatdown, we could do 45 minutes of burpees, OR we could do a Firehouse run. (It should be noted that the original creator of the firehouse run aka Lightweight – should appear in the credits each time we do a Firehouse Run™)
Warm-O-Rama:
Moseyed around past the normal spot to the far end of the parking lot by the playground.
Worked our way backwards from Willy mays hayes, weed picker, moon gods, sun gods, and ended with SSHs.
The Thang:
Stopped every second light pole for a pain station. – Each PAX would call an exercise and we made sure to cycle through everyone each time. YHC doesn’t recall each and every pain station but I do remember one – on the way back we stopped for a control merkin pain station – I felt shooting pain from the back of my hand and all the way up my right arm during the exercise and for a half second I thought that might be curtains for YHC because I was having a heart attack…..but YHC apparently found the spot on the curb where the fire ants were most active. I did use an emergency word or two.
We made it back to the flag in time for a 30 count BTTW hold and one round of Mary.
COT:
MOC and Prayer requests were shared – and we noticed the Jeep lights of the one and only Glitter approaching in the morning gloom. Since he has been on the DL it was really great to see him. He isn’t cleared for BDs yet and may have another surgery on the Horizon, but hopefully sooner than later he will be able to join us in the gloom. He did not think he earned the right to be in the pic since he wasn’t there for the BD portion. But we protested and he joined in. It was a good reminder that the 1st F is only part of what we do. The 2nd F still gets guys out of bed to go visit even when they can’t participate in the BD.
Coffeteria was good. Passionate discussions regarding governmental ineptitude abounded.
Naked-Man Moleskin:
As I head into a challenging weekend with Grow Ruck on the horizon – I am reminded that I am (and we all are) freed to lead. It is a privilege and an honor each an every time.
