VQ…anyone?…Bueller?…Bueller?

Preamble:

YHC threw down the gauntlet in hopes of a new PAX stepping up to grab the Q, but went to sleep feeling like the guy who hit on every girl in the bar only to wind up playing Fortnight with his friends until the wee hours, but…

Enter Corn Dog, who agreed to grab the Co-Q spot and get us out of the gate.  Off we go!

Warm-O-Rama:

Headed to the usual spot for warm up and Corn Dog took the lead on calling the exercises:

Corn Dog was like one of those guys who is holding back early on the dance floor, but doing the worm and pulling people out with the pretend rope by the end of the night!  Well done!

The Thang:

1. Run up the hill (the pre-runners were voicing their displeasure, but that’s how it goes when you have a Snooze button smacker at the Q!)
2. Next, mosey to the upper field for some 4 corners escalators:
   • 10 Burpees; mosey to next corner
   • 10 Burpees, 20 Jungle Boi Squats; Bear Crawl to next corner (100 Yards + I’m guessing)
   • 10 Burpees, 20 jungle Boi’s, 30 Star Jumps; mosey to next corner
   • 10 burpees, 20 Jungle Boi’s, 30 Star jumps, 40 LBC’s; Lunge walk to starting point

Back down the ladder:

The gloom was heavy and giving off a real ‘Walking Dead’ vibe, so YHC audibled for Frankenstein’s as the mode of transportation on the 1st and 3rd corner transitions…

• • 40 LBC’s, 30 Squats, 20 Jungle Boi’s, 10 Burpees
  • Audible to 1/2 reps as we were closing in on time – 15, 10, 5 at next corner; Frankenstein to next corner
  • 10 Jungle Boi’s /5 Burpees
  • 5 Burpees

Mosey down the hill through the Pavilion and back to the Warm up intersection for an Indian Run:

Strong effort by the PAX to close this one out right at 0615.  No time for Mary – apologies to Corn Dog as I intended to hand it back off, but we ran out of time.

COT:

Prayers for Benny’s friend who passed away unexpectedly; prayers for YHC’s friend in Charleston for the same situation.  Families feeling much grief – prayers for a guiding hand to walk them through it.

Prayers for the Vice family for healing and for Benny to have the wisdom to be the support figure for his friend when needed.

All PAX remember ALWAYS…there is no situation in life that you cannot emerge from – don’t try to push forward on your own.  F3 Cumming is a stone wall that you can lean up against and we will not let you fall!

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Jack Radcliffe was the first person I met when I moved to Charleston in 1994.  A super funny and outgoing guy, he took me under his wing and introduced me to all of the guys who would become my close friends for the first several years I lived there.

He was 54 years old and was found dead on the evening of 9/15 in his car at home, apparently having passed away from a heart attack.  He was known for being a heavy drinker and someone who looked to medicate his problems away.  When hearing this, I can’t help but think about our brother, Snowman, and the strength and courage it took to stand against the rising tide and refuse to let it sweep him away.  I wish Jack had an uncle like Hard Drive.  You will reach crossroads in your life and you will be conflicted between the path you want to take and the path you know you need to take, but know that the choice will be yours.

Through all of his faults and the demons he battled through life, Jack was still a great guy.  A 20 + year baseball coach and the posts from his former students and players are amazing to read.  See the below article from the Charleston newspaper about him…

Let’s look for opportunities to be like Jack when new people come into our lives.  Don’t assume that someone doesn’t need what you want to offer them – pride is a powerful enemy, but you can break it down by pushing through at the point where others typically give up and turn away.  As our newly retired Site Q at Jericho always said, let’s break down some walls…
