Shannah Tova, Wonder PAX

Preamble:

Sunday evening begun the Jewish New Year of 5783. YHC wanted to celebrate it with men of Windjammer and to bring some sweet blessings. A beatdown based on 5783 would require many men to complete, so the pre-blast showcased the Wonder Pets and a call for Team Work.

An FNG showed up in the gloom. No one brought him. He read/heard about us and googled the place. Looks like the NY Times piece is achieving the goal of reaching more men!!

Warm-O-Rama:

The Thang:

A short mosey to a pre-set board of pain, filled with lots of dots.

There are 7 Blessings for the new year, so YHC chose 7 exercises (plus runs) PAX will do to get to 5783 reps. Each dot on the board represents a single run to the flag and back or – a set of 25 reps, alpha counts where appropriate.

All in all 230 sets of 25 + 33=5783,

Each PAX does something from the board and erases the dot.

The board looked intimidating, with lots of stuff to do, but it was all done with time to spare. Nobody was thrilled to do the Burpees yet they were among the first to go. Lumbergh volunteered to take on another set of Burpees if anyone could name the Wonder Pets. Alas, we failed. They are named Linny, Tuck and Ming Ming.

With a few more minutes before the time runs out we run back to the flag and honored the year again by doing 57 SSH and 83 Mountain Climbers alpha count.

Mary included LBCs, Rosalita, Diamond Merkins, Monkey Humpers and Jump Squats.

COT:

FNG named Jumpseat.

NRA shared that a friend of his lost her dad recently and also her son. He went missing a few days ago and his body was found.

Lumbergh is facing some interviews he hopes go well.

Milli Vanilli needs help with Santa Ruck.

Bo Knows (a gladiator PAX), his wife has breast cancer and needs prayers.

YHC provided apples and honey, a Jewish tradition for the new year to symbolize the blessing of “may you have a year as sweet as honey”.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

As shared in the COT, it’s awesome that we finished the board (a factor of how many men showed up) but even if we didn’t it would have been OK. There’s a Jewish teaching that tells us, pertaining to Tikkun Olam (fixing the world) – it is not up to you to finish the task, but also it’s not for you to shy away from it.

F3 is a leadership training group and it’s amazing how it opens our eyes and minds to focus on others and find ways we can all help, even if we cannot solve the problem at the root.
