Two Elevens on 2/11
AO: Starting Line
When: 02/11/2023
QIC: Janeway
PAX (10): Ace Ventura, Better Call Saul, Closets closets closets, Janeway, Lightweight, Script Kiddie, Sirmixalot, Suarez, Weasley, FNG Jazz Hands
Preamble:
After a 116 day medical haitus from his last Q, YHC elected to take the Q for 2/11; as one PAX commented after the BD, “Janeway’s Back.”
The plan was simple: 2 Thangs of 11s since it is 2/11.
YHC showed for a Pre-Pre-Pre at 0545 to walk the AO. Script Kiddie, Ace Ventura, Lightweight & Weasley showed at 0600 for the Pre-Pre, and circling back around, no additional PAX showed at 0615 for the Pre-. These fine PAX completed a one-hour ruck at a fairly brisk pace.
Warm-O-Rama:
After circling at 0700 for welcomes, disclaimers and an elevator pitch of what F3 is all about, YHC led the PAX on a brisk mosey from the Pavilion to the bend in the closed off City Hall Driveway in front of the Racing HoF. There we circled up and completed IC:
- 10 Abe Vigodas
- 15 Moroccan Night Clubs Sobriety Style
- 10 Good Mornings
- 10 Prisoner Copper Head Squats
- 10 Willie Mays Hayes
The Thang:
1st 11:
YHC led the PAX to the bend in City Hall Driveway, which nicely inclines to Allen Street.
At the base of the incline/road, we started with 10 Happy Jacks (as defined by the PAX at The Forge in Richmond, VA): 3 SSH + 1 Merkin (similar to a burpee, but with SSHs substituting for the jump); we worked our way down from 10 to 9 to 8 and so forth in typical 11s fashion.
At the top of the incline/road, we started with 1 Box Cutter; we worked our way up to 2 to 3 to 4 and so forth in typical 11s fashion.
The transition from the Happy Jack spot to the Box Cutter spot was a mix of Mosey & El Capitans: forward lunges, placing both hands fully on the ground opposite of the forward extended leg. A shout out here to our local lunge expert Suarez for really encouraging the PAX to make the most out of these extended lunges. The transition from the Box Cutter spot to the Happy Jack spot was a Mosey – a form of recovery.
YHC cut off the 1st 11 around half-way through in order to ensure we could complete the 2nd 11 in full, since YHC knew they would enjoy the 2nd 11 so much more. We air chaired for the Six and when the Six was in did a 10 count for recovery, then moseyed off the beaten path to the grass at the base of the conveniently located nearby Hell Hill.
2nd 11:
At the base of Hell Hill, we started with 10 ST Merkins; we worked our way down 1 in typical 11s fashion.
At the top of Hell Hill, we started with 1 Imperial Squat Walker (which consists of 2 squats); we worked our way up to 10 in typical 11s fashion.
The transition from the ST Merkins spot to the Imperial Squat Walker spot was Bernie Sanders; the transition from the top of Hell Hill to its base were Crawl Bears. Lightweight added a new entry to the Exicon by substituting a Lightweight Log Roll down Hell Hill at one point.
After completing the 2nd 11, we did El Capitans back to the pavement/road; where we then completed a Black Snake Indian Run around the full Main Street Park, ending up at the Pavilion as time was called.
COT:
We welcomed our FNG to F3 and donned this new PAX “Jazz Hands”… reminded all about the 2nd F coming up 2/21 (Suarez will post the details)… lifted up a number of folks facing significant physical challenges in various stages of life… as well as those impacted by the Earth groaning in Turkey/Syria and the ongoing war in Ukraine. We followed this with good convo over cofferteria and dicussed plans for Dawson sub-region CSAUPs.
Naked-Man Moleskin:
It was a pleasure to be back to serving as Q once again, and I appreciate the support the PAX have shown as YHC continues to press through some painful side-effects of his current medical regimen. I’m hopeful that by the end of summer I can truly be fully back and gaining strength to the level I had attained before entering into medical protocol last Nov. 1.
