Steppin’ Out, Up and Down
AO: Starting Line
When: 02/18/2023
QIC: Better Call Saul
PAX (14): Ace Ventura, Better Call Saul, Closets closets closets, Dunshire, Janeway, LifeLock VPN, Lightweight, Script Kiddie, Seaman, Sirmixalot, Skipper, Suarez, toadstool
Preamble:
It was the first below freezing morning in a while and your QIC, on his sophomore Q, thought it best to keep things moving.
Warm-O-Rama:
Started with SSH, then weedpickers, Michael Phelps, Sun Gods and Good Mornings. However the start was shaky as your QIC started getting out of breath during warmup and did a piss poor job of leading the count. The PAX fought thru the adversity and still seemed to be ready to ruck.
The Thang:
Ruck with Pain Stations
Pain Stations included, but not limited to (in case I forgot any):
Burpees
Monkey Humpers – at the assisted living facility which is quickly becoming a Starting Line tradition
Squats
Rosalitas
Planking with ruck
Flutter kicks
steps – either hopping or climbing
named this BD “Stepping’ Out, Up and Down” as your QIC sought out every set of stairs around the AO and led the PAX up and down said stairs but the best was the set of steps in a little amphitheater like setting which required jumping or at least stretching to go up and down which we did 5 times. the mumble chatter was more pronounced at this station.
the QIC also declared this to be a Merkin free BD much to the consternation of Script Kiddie who was reminded that he could do Merkins all day when he went home if he felt that strongly about it
COT:
Janeway provided the acceleration point with an excellent homily on the importance of having an undivided heart for those people and principles that matter most, particularly Sky Q and our M.
2nd F is on next Tuesday at Maries Italian Deli – Suarez will put the address in Slack. be there at 6:00 pm
we shared prayer requests which included an employee of the park – when he saw us circling up, he inquired if we were about to pray. We confirmed that we were and he shared that a friend’s newborn child was going to need surgery and asked us to pray for that family. Of course we said yes and insisted that he join us.
Naked-Man Moleskin:
those of us who did the pre-ruck and the BD logged in over 6 miles for the morning (6.4 to be exact) – an amazing way to start the day
the park employee seeing us was a good reminder that in our efforts to be HIM, those around us will notice and will be drawn to what we have. In scripture, this is referred to as having the “aroma of Christ”. Let’s be aware of our opportunities to positively influence and encourage everyone that we come in contact with.
