Enduring Freedom: Staff Sgt. E. Loredo, US Army

Preamble:

With a later start for the holiday weekend, QIC EH’ed a sleepyheaded family member (an FNG) and drove in on 2 wheels a couple of minutes late even after the OG Zima got the PAX warmed up for a Hero WOD.

Warm-O-Rama:

What the OGZima called plus Mtn Climbers, sun gods IC/OYO 15 reps each.

The Thang:

The Staff Sergeant Edwardo Loredo, US Army, Hero WOD:

6 Rounds For Time (most PAX killed it in 25-30 min.)

• 24 Air Squats
• 24 ‘Mericans
• 24 Walking Lunge Steps (beta [single] count)
• 400 meter Run

with ~10 minutes left on the clock, QIC lead PAX over to bleachers, called for 2-man teams where each team did the following: descending rep’ count beginning with 10 reps of team member, A doing 10 dips while team member, B, performed wall sit.  Members “switched” places after each performed his reps.  After all teams completed the work, QIC lead the PAX back to the flag and called time for the WO.

“U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Edwardo Loredo, 34, of Houston, Texas, assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, was killed on June 24, 2010 in Jelewar, Afghanistan, when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He is survived by his wife, First Sergeant Jennifer Loredo; his daughter, Laura Isabelle; his stepdaughter, Alexis; and his son, Eduardo Enrique.”
Gentlemen, we live the lives we do and have been under the protection of men and women like Staff Sgt. Loredo, because they were willing to take an oath, don a uniform and be willing, in some cases, to make the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.  In many ways, they traded their futures so that we, their friends, family members and citizens, could enjoy the lives we have today.  Think about that.  Sprocket out.
