A self-fulfilling haiku

AO: Boneyard

When: 07/14/2023

QIC: Zohan

PAX (7): Chanel, Darkside, Mounty, Speedo, Zohan, Blue Light, Tight Rope

Preamble:

I’ve had the Boneyard flag since Monday. Yesterday morning I was trying to pass on the flag with the intent to skip the beatdown. Then I realized I’m the Q. Oh well.

Speedo published a pre-blast in the form of a haiku:

Zohan’s wicked glee,
Inflicting pain with a grin,
Laughs amid chaos.

I wanted to object but then realized – yeah, that’s appropriate. And then I tried to make it happen.

Warm-O-Rama:

A short disclaimer followed by a short mosey. Circle up close to the playground. Decided to change the warmup a bit. Started at plank position with Mountain Climbers, followed by Tempo Merkins. Still in Plank position we did Baby Arm Circles (obviously, one hand at a time) FW and BW and then Plank Jacks. Finally stood up for Squats, Weed Pickers and Toe Hangers (?? not sure about the name. Cross your legs and bend down for a stretch).

The Thang:

Very simple – run a loop around the pavilion. Must complete 25 Burpees before coming back. You can do them all at once or split them however you like, just do them all before you’re back.

Circled up for 50 LBCs in Candance.

Rinse and Repeat on the run and burpees.

Circled up for 1 min of quick pace curb step ups. I called them Rocky Balboa, but Speedo is right and Rocky is a slightly different movement.

Rinse and Repeat on the run and burpees (much to delight of everyone, except for everyone).

Circled up in a Low Plank position to discuss the F3 Mission and how the first 4 core principles related to it. We alternated to high plank and back to low as needed. Speedo and I incurred 5 penalty merkins when the younger generation (by time in F3, not by age) couldn’t answer what is the F3 mission. We went into the pavilion, grabbed a bench and finished the discussion about the 5th core principles in relation to the mission in a Dip position.

Dips and Steps Ups in cadence.

Last Rinse and Repeat on run and burpees.

Finished at the flag with Diamond Merkins led by Dark Side.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

F3 Mission: plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership

Taking the Q is one small step toward leadership. I’ve seen men grow to take on larger roles later in business and non-profits, as well as taking a larger role in leading their own families and personal lives. There’s some real power here. Take the Q if you haven’t done it so far, or not recently.
