Preamble:

Yours truly first beatdown was August 5th, 2017, which was 5 days before my 39th birthday. I heard about F3 in the Art of Manliness podcast, where Dredd and OBT (the co-founders) talked about F3. I was at a time of my life that I was looking for a change, but I didn’t know what kind of change. I googled F3 and found out the Widowmaker was only 5 minutes away from my house. I posted at 6am and that ruck and beatdown were my first steps in a long path. I certainly changed much during the last 6 years, building muscles, confidence and friendships.

What better way to celebrate it, then an anniversary beatdown where it all begun?

Oh, I can’t. The Widowmaker will be closed tomorrow (for a convergence) and I won’t be able to attend.

Well, there IS a better way and that’s to celebrate a day early, marking the last day of 6 years, in the AO I’ve sent most of the last year in – The Boneyard – with an amazing group of brothers I care about deeply.

Warm-O-Rama:

Disclaimer given. We have an FNG – a 2.0.

Mosey in the parking lot, including Bernie and side shuffles. Grabbing a whiteboard we cross behind the big pavilion to the other side.

Circle up for Hillbillies, Copper Head Squats, Chinooks, Inch Warms and World’s Greatest Stretch.

The Thang:

6 rounds listed on a Whiteboard. Each round has 3 exercises. Rep count is always 20 and everything is Alpha count, except the Step Ups at the end.

Do first round, run to the bottom of the hill and back. Repeat first round.

Do second round, run, repeat.

… you get the idea.

Arms: Hand Release Merkins, Alternate Shoulder Taps, Air Presses

Core: American Hammers, Flatter Kicks, Freddie Mercury

Legs: Bonnie Blairs, Squats, Fire Hydrants

Cardio: SSH, Mountain Climbers, Apolo Ohnos

Originally was planned to be a coupon round but then I decided not to do coupons so changed the exercises but didn’t find a good name for it: Peter Parkers, Knee Tucks, Plank Jacks

Bench: Derkins, Dips, Step Ups (single count)

Gazelles – start over from round one, half off (10 reps).

Some/Most finished the 6th set (YHC just started the last set of Step-ups on the 2nd run of the 6th round) when I called Time and we headed back to the flag. Brownie and Mater closed us out with Gas Pumpers and Dying Cockroach.

COT:

Prayers for Fannypack to find a good job. Prayers for Pigtails, who has a hearing at city hall regarding some home improvements.

FNG was named Einstein – his favorite subject is Math and his favorite food is Bagel with Cream Cheese. Hence Einstein Bagels, or just Einstein.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

I really love and appreciate F3 and the men of F3. This group as given me so much over the years and made me a better men, husband and father. Thank you!!
