Modifier Market

AO: Norseman

When: 09/12/2023

QIC: Chapter 11

PAX (11): Cam's, Chapter 11, DeLorean, DirtyMO, Ha-ha, Huffy, Matlock, Password 123, Shortcake, Sweeper, Pookie - DR from Houston

Preamble:

It’s been a while since the Alpha Bucks made an appearance… so it was time to bring back the modifier marketplace! Shockingly, despite Knight Rider’s warning, there was no rain for this Chapter 11 Q (though we had probably about 300% humidity).

Warm-O-Rama:

Grabbed a few of Ha-ha’s girlfriends and headed over to the big parking lot for a standard Norseman Warm-o-Rama:

  • SSH
  • Weed Pickers
  • Toy Soldiers
  • Hillbillys

The Thang:

Headed down to the old flag location for The Thang, with two main parts:

“Earning Season”

First part was a circuit in pairs to earn some alpha bucks. We ran laps around (and up and down) the parking lot median with stops along the way for 5 merkins, 5 skull crushers, and 5 squats. While one partner completed the lap, the other waited at the top while holding a diamond plank. Then switch. Each time a partner completed a lap, their team earned one Alpha Buck.

After about 15 minutes, it was time for

“Spending Season”

The PAX were presented with the next exercise, 11’s (of course). This 11 consisted of:

  • Up and down the whole parking lot hill
  • Burpees (ManMakers if you had a GF) at the top
  • Alpha Lunges at the bottom
  • One of your pair must have the GF with them.

The PAX were able to spend (or give away!) their Alpha Bucks to buy modifiers:

  • $5 let you drop the Alpha count on lunges
  • $10 let you lose the Girlfriend
  • $15 turned Burpees into Merkins
  • $20 – You’re rich… do whatever you want.

PAX were given the option to decide how much money they really needed… and felt the freedom of generosity in being able to give to others what they didn’t need.

I convinced Password 123 to “Be Rich” with me (1 Timothy 6:17-19) and give away all of our bucks and complete the full workout. To which he grumbled, “So I work my whole life just to give it all away?” Yes. That’s exactly what it means to be rich.

Ha-Ha grumbled and wanted to know how much it would cost to make the hill half as long.

But in the end, the PAX worked hard, and most left feeling “bankrupt” in their bodies but satisfied in their souls.

COT:

  1. Welcome “Pookie” DR from Houston.
  2. Prayers for our site Q, Pepper, and his MRI tomorrow for his foot injury
  3. Prayers for Nacho, Queso, and Chorizo (is that a thing? It should be a thing) as they prepare to head home from the hospital as a family of three.

Also, we’ll likely have a Norseman shirt sign up coming soon, so stay tuned!

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Always a pleasure to lead. I am genuinely grateful for this group of guys for pushing me to be stronger and better.

Side note – In my job, I encourage people to practice generosity a lot and help show them how. But a lot of things have transpired for me personally lately that have made practicing generosity a challenge. So this morning was a good time to preach to myself, more than anything. And the privilege of being the Q for this group gave me that opportunity. So thanks men!
