Yup, It’s a Moutain Music BD
AO: Starting Line
When: 09/13/2023
QIC: Janeway
PAX (7): Aunt May, DDoS, Janeway, Jolt, Script Kiddie, Sirmixalot, toadstool
Preamble:
YHC’s last Q was all about Rain and Shine; it seemed natural to follow with a Mountain-themed BD, esp. since we had not paid Hell Hill much attention of late.
DDoS (AKA The Machine) powered through 30 minutes of Pre-Running, with Toadstool, YHC & Script Kiddie joining for about 15 minutes each.
It was great to have Script Kiddie back ITG after a necessary haitus; to see Toadstool (who is A-W-E-S-O-M-E) giving it his all; and see DDoS continuing to resolutely press towards his goal of joining the National Guard.
Sirmixalot & Aunt May arrived just before time, and Jolt zapped in shortly after we started to join in the fun.
Warm-O-Rama:
YHC’s call for HCs gave a not-so-veiled suggestion that we would be laboring on Hell Hill. So we started with a long mosey towards Hell Hill… only to do a 180 just before arrival as YHC announced: “Guess what? It’s raining. We’re not doing Hell Hill. I’m crazy but I’m not insane!”
It was suggested that I might be on the spectrum, however.
So we missed out on a-many Bernie Sanders and moseyed back in the rain to the long flight of steps beside the bigger pavilion. There we warmed up with:
- Abe Vigodas
- Chinooks
- Discomblomerated Imperial Squat Walker Squat-like Things
- Ham Hangers
- Forward Lunges
- Willie Mays Hayes
- O Screw It, the Warm-Up Song is Over
The Thang:
A modified Dora. Paired up into teams of two with the team of three picking up the 6 when they were finished to help the 6 bust out their reps.
- 75 merkins (hell, add 25 just because)
- 150 reverse crunches
- 225 single-count side squats (maintain form, gentlemen)
- 150 rosalita wips (changing to just rosalitas as abs gave way)
- Dang, the last The Thang song ended so ditch the final round of 75
It should be noted that DDoS got stuck in the ON position during the reverse crunches and YHC had a hard time finding the OFF switch; I think he’d still be doing crunches this moment if his portable Dyson Sphere had not failed.
Also, a realization came about 7 songs into the set that this was a Mountain Music BD.
Next, in preparation for WBD, we did 30 burpees to “Green Sally Up”. If we were a choreographed burpee team, we definitely scored something like a 1.2 out of 10. But remarkably, there were no complaints, and the effort was there. Coach K (Kiddie) has a long way to go to get us ready (unfortunately).
There was supposed to be a closing Mosey during the final song (someone observed “it’s NOT alright” but it definitely was “The End of the Line”)… but timing was whack so YHC closed out with some Cool Down:
- Deep Breathing
- Good Mornings
- Ham Hangars
- Reverse Lunges
COT:
Today’s AP: YHC’s suspicion is that we humans don’t really create things so much as discover things Sky-Q has already created which we then replicate (with much greater effort) and put to use. Take the GPS, something we use (or have used upon us) everyday, a remarkable invention. Sky-Q, however, is the world’s greatest GPS: if external circumstances change (e.g., rain messing up the original Q plan and forcing some adjustments)… or if we ourselves get off course (either accidentally or deliberately), Sky-Q is the world’s greatest GPS… always re-routing us and providing a new path to our goal / His ultimate destination for each of us. Our is to follow the path.
After being reminded by others that YHC is 52, not 53, prayers for health, well-being, and clarity for the path in a number of our lives. Playlist follows.
