Supergroup Challenge

Preamble:

With Avis offering to help me and walk me through my first Q, it dawned on me that this was ‘like’ a band, or a Supergroup of Men that get together in the Gloom and work on making themselves better than they were the day before.

A Supergroup is a music group that consists of members of already established/famous bands…..and Uriah Heep. Usually they don’t last long, and carry the baggage of being compared to their original bands while other members get left behind.

Side Straddle Hops, Weedpickers, toy soldiers, hillbilies, mosey to the pool

The Thang:

In that spirit, I came up with a setlist of obvious(to Special K and myself) Supergroups from the classic rock/grunge era. The Pax were divided into 2 groups, and the setlist was deployed – teams had to guess the FEEDER BANDS. If successful, they got to assign the other team an exercise while one member of the correct-guessing team being left behind to perform a solo-gig with a 50 lb kettlebell exercise of their choice while the rest of his band went on a tour of the parking lot, while burden-carrying a 60lb sandbag.

7. Temple of the Dog(Hunger Strike)Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, ***Pearl Jam was predetermined to be an accepted answer***
8. Blizzard of Ozz(orig. name for the band before it was changed to Ozzy Osbourne Solo)(Crazy Train) – Black Sabbath, Quiet Riot, Rainbow, Uriah Heep)
9. Velvet Revolver(Slither) – Stone Temple Pilots, Scott Weiland(solo), Guns n Roses
10. Bad Company(Rock n Roll Fantasy) – Free, Mott the Hoople, King Crimson
11. Asia(Heat of the Moment) – Yes, King Crimson, Uriah Heep, The Buggles, Emerson Lake & Palmer
12. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young(Carry On)-Buffalo Springfield, the Byrds, the Hollies, Crazy Horse
13. Journey(Stone in Love)- Santana, Steve Miller Band, the Tubes, Jeff Beck Group, Frank Zappa, David Bowie

COT:

Life is full of ups and downs, and how we look at it matters. If we all throw our own problems into a pile in the center of the room, chances are when we see everyone else’s….we’ll gladly take our own back and move forward.
