Rugby but not the world cup

AO: Jericho

When: 2023-09-29

QIC: Napalm

PAX (10): Baskins, Deuce (Jay Mooney), Mantooth, Napalm, Samsonite, Schneider, Seaman, Snowman, Soul Glo, Tsunami

Preamble:

It was the last day of Napalm's last stand and it's about mid-way through the Rugby World Cup so we decided to play a little rugby.

Warm-O-Rama:

We did weed pickers, but Snowman thought that we did them too fast, we did truck twists and the hillbilly.

The Thang:

We started off by doing 10 Turkish Get up, using the firewood for tonight's camping trip as weight.  Soul Glow says that Turks don't really get up this way. Then we took the rugby ball to the pitch. First we did the fly-half drill, with 25 squats after the Tri and a three burpee penalty for knock-ons and forward passes.  Then we did the scrum half drill, just to familiarize everyone with how to put the ball in play from the tackle.  Then we played five vs. five.  Turns our Duce is pretty fast when he needs to be.

COT:

We have a couple of PAX who recently learned that their Ms are expecting, so we prayed for them and for all who might be suffering in silence.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

A conversation I had with Baskins the day prior really got me thinking about this.  As men, we called to action.  That has two components: 1. We need to be  competent, that means we need to know how to do things.  Things like change a tire, render first aid, if comes to it, handle ourselves in physical conflict.  2. We need to apply that competence for the benefit of others. If we see a woman on the side of road who's car has been disabled, we should help, change a tire or jump start or whatever might be needed.  If there is a medical emergency we should not hesitate to render first aid and, although this should be a last resort, we should be willing and able to use physical violence to protect others.  In all cases we should be willing to put risk harm and even death because that is the example set for us by Christ our redeemer who died for our salvation and because it is the role, the popper role, of men in society.
