Preamble:

I have to thank Mounty for commenting yesterday at work that I had the Q this morning. I verbally agreed on Monday to cover for Darkside, but forgot.

Warm-O-Rama:

A half-assed disclaimer was given. Very sub-par. But we didn't have FNGs and everyone knew the drill. Playlist, themed for Peace, started with 2 songs in Hebrew that I explained are meaningful for me, even though most of the other PAX couldn't understand the words. We run a long mosey to the tunes of the first one, Song for Peace. "...so sing a sing for peace, don't whisper a prayer. Sing a song for peace, in a great cry". We circled up for a warmup to the tunes of the second song, I was Born for Peace. We did SSH, Moroccan Night Clubs, Worlds Greatest Stretch and Squats.

The Thang:

Part 1, the problem statement - Why can't we be friends? High plank for the 3rd song, "Why can't we be friends?" by Smash Mouth. Merkin for every 'Friends'. I tried to count Merkins but lost the count around the time my arms fell off like lego pieces. A conservative estimate would be two trillion. In my defense, when I listened to the song yesterday and imagined myself doing Merkins it wasn't that bad.   Part 2, the cost of war A short mosey to the Vietnam war Memorial Wall, which has the names of the fallen. 10 Burpees, lunge walk to the middle, 20 WWII Sit Ups (legs straight), lunge walk to the end and 10 more Burpees. Since we, humans, don't really understand the point the first time around (hence 2 world wars), rinse and repeat for the way back. We helped the 6 finished Speedo aptly said that it's humbling to see the names. I agreed. Often we glorify war, valiant battles and courageous war heroes - and there is room for that as well. But memorials like this serve a different purpose, and that's to remember the cost (and sacrifice). Part 3, Working together A short mosey to the nearby building, where a board of pain was waiting. we partnered up, not for a dora but to work together. The counts are for each team. The work doesn't need to be 50/50. The counts were very high, considering the remaining time, but that's OK. Peace takes time, and sometimes you have to start the work knowing you might not be there when it comes. The exercises were:
  • 100 Patty Cake Merkins
  • 100 Seal Sit-ups
  • 100 Dips
  • 100 Box Jumps
  • 100 Pickle Pointers
  • 4 Sprints across the lawn to the stairs (both PAX sprint together, and on the way back)
  • 2 Partner Carries around the roundabout
  • 2 Wheelbarrows
  • 3 minutes Balls to the Wall
  • 3 Minutes hold 6"
We stopped before any pair finished and run back to the flag for a quick Mary. Playlist link: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5Rm24nrritG2ONr4dSwhO7?si=qf66H5C7QFidtlF1HZPhbA&pt=15374e691b5c34a2607d1c4b679f6eb6
