The Impossible Mile – Can we do it!

AO: Nirvana

When: 2024-02-17

QIC: Scar

PAX (18): Avis, Biebs, Buckshot, Dosido, Groundhog, Lefty, Lil Hurt, Mayhem, MillerTime, No-See-Um, Roman, Shazam, Special K, Sprocket, Sweeper, Tank, The Real Woody

Preamble:

YHC had this workout sitting around for a long time and needed to find a willing audience. Sprocket had signed me up for this Q and as we got nearer to the day I knew this would be good. This was talked up on Slack with commits coming in from everywhere, pre run, pre ruck and everything in between was committed. There was even talk of record numbers. LFG!

Warm-O-Rama:

A cold windy morning greeted the pax as they arrived to the parking lot, rucks were shed, shoes tightened, gloves put on and a general sense of what has he got planned was being whispered. Quick disclaimer and welcoming everyone we moseyed out to another parking lot. Circled up for SSH, Mountain Climbers and Weed-pickers.

The Thang:

After moseying to the Northwest middle school track the Pax were greeted with my whiteboard lit up by some work lights, very industrial. The impossible mile was revealed and the mumble chatter died down and the personal attacks and name calling started. Undaunted YHC explained what was ahead, started up the carefully curated death metal playlist and said "Exercise" So the impossible mile on paper seems pretty straight forward and do-able in less than 1 hour. I had even added another set of exercises to fill any left over time. 1st lap - burpee broad jump 2nd lap - lunges 3rd lap - bear crawl 4th lap - jog So twenty minutes in I glanced down at my watch, it said 20 minutes had elapsed and we were only finishing the 1st lap, Wow! this might take a bit longer than we thought. The back chat, name calling and general dissent had vanished. Replaced by a series of grunts, feet scuffing and grown men trying to do hard things. By the time lap 2 and 3 were started we were well into the 45 to 50 minute time zone. Round 4 a simple jog was welcomed by all and those leading the charge were instructed to do squats for the six. These were followed by 6 inches and much laughter. The six was in and we had a good 8 minutes left. This was filled with 40 squats and 30 LBC's. Mosey back to the flag and get ready for COT.

COT:

YHC thanked the pax for getting out today and pushing to do hard things. This was a tough beat-down and everyone completed and encouraged another. Prayers offered up for being good men and Fathers and lead our families and communities in growth and bettering.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

I recently celebrated 6 years at F3 and am so very thankful for this "Cult" that has made me a better person by not only pushing me physically but mentally too. I see so much growth by all these men and other AO's in our region. Thank You, lets continue to do hard thing and always pick up and encourage the six.
