Johnny McEnroe visits the Rubicon

AO: Rubicon

When: 2025-02-27

QIC: Cookie

PAX (10): Clickbait, Cookie, Deep dish, MillerTime, No-See-Um, Pinkey, Schnitzel, Shazam, Special K, uga

Preamble:

After some small numbers on Tuesday at Rubicon/Academy, YHC did his best to rally the troops for the Thursday beatdown. Some back and forth ensued on the Slack channel the night before and ultimately 10 PAX answered the call and took the DRP. 5:30AM rang and after a quick disclaimer we headed off into the gloom.

Warm-O-Rama:

A little mosey in the parking lot doing side shuffles, backwards run and karaoke. Circle up for SSH, Good Morning, Weedpicker, Imperial Walker. During the warmup, YHC emphasized that F3 is a leadership development group and the workouts were peer led. For those that were new, they were showed how to count in cadence and instructed that they would be later called upon to lead some Mary at the end, with our assistance of course.

The Thang:

Head to the tennis courts for Windjammer favorite brought to us originally by Townie, The Johnny McEnroe Special. Using the lines of 4 consecutive courts, we would do a suicide variety using the following rep count:
  • Doubles Line:  15 Merkins (alternating variety)
  • Singles Line: 25 Flutters or Freddie
  • Middle Line: 25 Lunge or Squats
The PAX would start by running to the far doubles line, doing the reps, then coming back to home base and doing 3 burpees. Repeat but this time going to far singles line, back to do 3 burpees, and so on. When the first group of PAX finished, they were instructed to bear crawl around the entire double court perimeter. When all the PAX finished, we had about 5 minutes left so we gathered in the side parking lot and partnered up for a quick BTTW routine. One partner would run across the bridge to the concession area and do 30 seconds of BTTW while their partner was in a plank position. Switch it up when he returns. Time running out, we made it back to the flag for 3 minutes of Mary where the newer guys were given an opportunity to lead, and they did great. Next time they will be even more prepared to lead.

COT:

Thankful for the ability to get out of bed and do hard things in the gloom with our brothers. Allow us to never take this for granted. For those of you reading this that have not posted in a while, your presence is missed and we encourage you to come back out soon. You know who you are. A few prayers were spoken and a few words of encouragement were offered for the Hillseekers this weekend. Coffeeteria and TNT followed. YHC shared some nuggets from Q Source that we had discussed yesterday morning about getting Right in all 3 F's... Fitness (your relationship with yourself) Fellowship (your relationship with those in proximity to you) and Faith (your relationship with your creator). If we can't get Right ourselves, how are we to help others in our lives?  How are we to become great leaders?  - Honored to lead.
