Preamble:

With BRR coming up, lots of guys were preparing for that which meant it was time for me to step up to lead since I'm definitely not running in BRR. The park was hopping, Dawn Patrol had great numbers, and along the way some guys decided to listen to my disclaimer and kinda sorta follow me as we kicked this off.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey past the XCers, the proselytizers, the dog walkers and some sad clowns to that intersection that everyone knows about but doesn't have a name for:
  • Copperhead squats IC x15
  • SSH IC x15
  • Weed pickers IC x15
  • Hangovers OYO
  • Planks with different movements
  • Squatty potties

The Thang:

Mosey to the nearby elementary school and partner up for some upper body dora. P1 does the exercise while P2 runs to the second light pole and back. Exercises included:
  • HR merkins x100
  • Carolina dry docks x100
  • Mike Tysons x50
After a slow walking 10-count, we moseyed back toward the park and up to whatever bridge road that is. Sake led us in some runners stretches as we waited (and waited) for the six who had seemingly decided to branch off into their own AO mid-workout. Stu and I stepped into the senior living home for a quick tour and then, after they figured out the error of their ways, the second group joined us and we started the leg portion of the workout. Lunge walk between the many, many light poles, stopping at each pole for either 10 squats or 10 monkey humpers. At some point, we switched to inchworms as the MOT. We found ourselves at the meaningless cul-de-sac by the entrance to the park. If you've lived in the area as long as I have, you may remember that street used to intersect with Kimball Bridge right there at a very awkward angle which led to lots of accidents. #Progress. Pax were instructed to bear crawl 1/4 of the donut then do 15 big boy sit-ups, then switch to crawl bear for the next 1/4 and repeat the BBSUs. After 1/2 a donut was done, we switched to crab walks as the MOT and finished at the 3/4 mark to leave time for the final round. On the way back into the park, we met the neighborhood running group and took a selfie with them. It's fun to be part of a fun fitness community that can connect randomly like that. Love it. YHC took the men through a short running circuit that included running by/around part of the new dog park area. Pax were instructed to think of an exercise that was particularly tough for them. They were to run the circuit again, starting at the stairs, and when they got to the benches at the dog park, stop for 10 of whatever that exercise is. Everyone finished two rounds and some studs got in three. Back to the flag for a little mary including Crocs calling for some sort of dancing walk/run thing. When we did that, I looked up and the entire Chattahoochee XC team was watching (and laughing at) us. Back to the flag and two returning runners for time.

COT:

Stu shared a great and inspiring story about his sister and her ongoing battle with cancer. Her girls are running the Boston Marathon tomorrow in her honor and Stu is joining them for that! He posted on Slack a link to the fundraiser if you are feeling led to support this effort. Prayers for Ha-ha and the prognosis for his health issues. Oshkosh is looking for men to push those who cannot walk in the Speed for Need chairs on August 23. See Slack for details. Praises that men of all different faith backgrounds can come to F3 and feel welcomed and accepted. F3 allows us to learn about all faiths and to know we serve a God who is bigger than any perceived differences we may have with others.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Thanks for taking my lead this morning. I love you guys! --Speedo out
